Most of the endemic species are from the Tibesti Mountains including a mint Nepeta tibestica (JSTOR), an everlasting Helychrisum monodianum (JSTOR) (p. 325 of ResearchGate pdf), Ephedra tilhoana (GBIF), Wahlenbergia tibestica (GBIF) (IUCN), Pentas tibestica (JSTOR), Oldenlandia toussidana (GBIF), Lotus tibesticus (JSTOR), Erodium toussidanum (GBIF), Silene mirei (p. 151 of ResearchGate pdf), Foeniculum scoparium (JSTOR), Campanula monodiana (GBIF), Artemisia tilhoana (p. 321 of ResearchGate pdf), a tree Lannea sessilifoliata (GBIF), and Agrostis tibestica (JSTOR). Quezeliantha (formerly Quezelia) is an endemic genus (JSTOR) (p. 146 of ResearchGate pdf).
A blind snake Letheobia
logonensis (MNHN)
described in 2019 has recently been considered a synonym of the more
widespread Letheobia
weidholzi
(Reptile
Database).
Freshwater fish include Barilius
shariensis (Google
Books) (IUCN),
a cyprinid known only from the type specimen. A cichlid Sarotherodon borkouanus
(Google
Books)
from Saharan oases is sometimes
considered distinct from the widespread Sarotherodon galilaeus
(Cichlid
Room Companion). Another cichlid Astatotilapia tchadensis
(ScienceDirect)
(GBIF)
is known with certainty only from the Ounianga Serir lakes, but is likely more widespread.
Insects unique to Chad include a butterfly Cigaritis baghirmii (Wikispecies) (Oxford), a moth Callhyccoda mirei (GBIF), a katydid Eurycorypha laticercis (GBIF), a cricket Oecanthus decorsei (GBIF), a water scorpion Laccotrephes niala (Discover Life), the ants Camponotus tilhoi (AntWiki) and Carebara diabolica (AntWiki pdf), a jewel beetle Agrilus pseudopurpuratus (MNHN), a ground beetle Bradybaenus robustus (fig. 2 on p. 6 of zobodat pdf), the leaf-chafers Pegylis tchadensis (p. 5 of Hannetons WM pdf) and Adoretus vanderberghei (p. 18 of BJE WM pdf), a longhorn beetle Apomecynoides tchadensis (BHL), and a robber fly Euscelidia hyalina (GBIF).
