Endemic mammals include the Mehely's Blind Mole-rat Spalax antiquus (ResearchGate) and the Oltenia Blind Mole-rat Spalax istricus (GBIF) (Oxford). The Carpathian Chamois (flickr) (iNaturalist) is an endemic mammal that is sometimes considered a full species.

Freshwater fish known solely from Romania include the Eastern Carpathian Golden Loach Sabanejewia vallachica (Ittiofauna WM), an extinct stickleback Gasterosteus crenobiontus (Ittiofauna WM), the Petzea Rudd (Joel Sartore) (FishBase), the Arges Sculpin (Ittiofauna WM), the Banat Sand Gudgeon (Ittiofauna WM), and a critically endangered endemic genus, the Asprete Romanichthys (FishBase) (Ittiofauna WM). The Danube Delta Dwarf Goby (FishBase) has sometimes been recognized as a distinct species and is known only from the Danube Delta in the Black Sea.

Cave beetles unique to Romania include a ground beetle Clivina subterranea (Poppe Stamps WM), a rove beetle Decumarellus sarbui (True Romania), and the round fungus beetles Pholeuon comani (Biospeleologica Slovaca WM) and Sophrochaeta reitteri (Fig. 61 at BHL) and Drimeotus horvathi (p. 40 of ResearchGate pdf). Among 37 endemic invertebrates from Movile Cave area the centipedes Cryptops speleorex (EurekAlert!) and Geophilus zagreus (Taylor & Francis), a millipede Archiboreoiulus serbansarbui (fig 4C at Diversity), a water scorpion Nepa anophthalma (Gess Lab), the spiders Agraecina cristiani (Movile Cave Project) and Kryptonesticus georgescuae (ResearchGate), the isopod crustaceans Armadillidium tabacarui (BHL) and Trachelipus troglobius (fig. b at ResearchGate), an amphipod crustacean Niphargus dancaui (BHL), a leech Haemopis caeca (fig. 4B at ResearchGate) (BHL), and a snail Heleobia dobrogica (ResearchGate).

Other endemic insects include the bush crickets Isophya harzi (Grasshoppers of Europe) and Bradyporus montandoni (IUCN), the grasshoppers Zubovskya banatica (IUCN) and Podismopsis transsylvanica (IUCN), the ground beetles Carabus planicollis (galerie-insecte.org) and Trechus biharicus (fig. 6 at Käfer Europas), a longhorn beetle Xestoleptura nigroflava (IUCN), a click beetle Athous petronelae (Elateridae), the caddisflies Rhyacophila motasi (BOLD) and Rhyacophila kimminsiana (BOLD), a stonefly Zwicknia kovacsi (ResearchGate), a noctuid moth Polia cherrug (BHL), the tortrix moths Dichrorampha carpatalpina (Nota Lepidopterologica) and Phtheochroa carpatiana (ResearchGate), and a picture-winged fly Otites kowarzi (Diptera.info).

Other endemic snails include Bythinella molcsany (IUCN), Alopia plumbea (iNaturalist), Mastus transsylvanicus (AnimalBase WM), Agardhiella tunde (AnimalBase WM), Arianta hessei (AnimalBase WM), Oxychilus oscari (AnimalBase WM), Faustina kiralikoeica (iNaturalist), Limax zilchi (AnimalBase WM), Cochlodina marisi (AnimalBase WM), Vitrea subcarinata (GBIF), Lozekia deubeli (AnimalBase WM), and Microcolpia (or Melanopsis) parreyssi (ARKive WM) (figs. 19-24 at ResearchGate).

Other endemic invertebrates include a springtail Hymenaphorura kalindera (ZooKeys), a scorpion Euscorpius carpathicus (iNaturalist), a dysderid spider Harpactea decebali (ResearchGate), the dwarf spiders Anguliphantes silli (spiderling.de WM) and Scutpelecopsis loricata (BHL), a pseudoscorpion Neobisium leruthi (p. 13 of caves.org WM pdf), a centipede Clinopodes intermedius (Semantic Scholar), the millipedes Bulgardicus bucarestensis (ResearchGate) and Micropachyiulus filiformis (GBIF), a woodlouse Cylisticus transsilvanicus (iNaturalist), a crayfish Austropotamobius bihariensis (crayfish.ro), an amphipod Gammarus hamaticornis (ResearchGate), and an earthworm Dendrobaena virgata (ResearchGate).
