Saba
A
lizard
unique to Saba is the Saban Anole Anolis
sabanus (iNaturalist)
(DCNA WM).
Insects
restricted to Saba include an ambush bug Lophoscutus geijskesi
(ResearchGate), a jewel beetle Chrysobothris
sabae (ResearchGate),
a weevil Scolytodes sabaensis (DCSC), a moth fly Alepia
apexalba (ResearchGate),
and several
crickets: Laurepa (or Hapithus) saba (DCSC),
Laurellia saba
(OSF),
Antillicharis (or Hapithus) naskreckii
(OSF),
and Antillicharis (or Hapithus)
sabaensis (OSF).
Endemic arachnids include
the goblin spiders Scaphiella
saba (figs. 1081-1090 at BioOne)
and Stenoonops saba (figs. 495-504 at BioOne),
and a pseudoscorpion Corticochernes
sabae (p. 9 of Zool.
Med Leiden WM pdf). The marine snails Osvaldoginella (or Canalispira) hoffi (WoRMS) (BHL)
and Lyria
sabaensis (Eddie
Hardy) (WoRMS)
are also known only from Saba.
Endemic vascular plants include a fern Amauropelta sabaensis (CCH2) (IPNI).
About a dozen species of brown algae (PLOS)
have been discovered on the Saba Bank. Lichen known only from Saba include Lasioloma antillarum (BioOne).
The
Saba Bank is the largest atoll in the Atlantic Ocean and has several
marine species not known elsewhere (see PLOS

Saba is
included in the
Caribbean Islands biodiversity hotspot (Biodiversity Hotspots WM) and is a special
municipality of the Netherlands.
